the faculty member has not done well, the institution has lost
time and money-and must start over again recruiting and supporting
new faculty. In today's economic climate, there may even be the
risk of losing the position entirely.
Several years ago GTSP was engaged by a large university to help
solve these problems.

The
Writing Workshop Process
A Brief Look
Before
we begin: Participants complete the Writing Questionnaire-Looking
at oneself as a writer.
The
process has two main phases:
- The
Kickoff Workshop sets initial goals, looks at Writing Questionnaire
results, introduces core strategies and tools in short exercises
and activities.
- Ongoing
monthly workshops present new tools, provide strategies
for common problems, and reinforce accountability. Participants
report progress, share advice on journal selection and how to
respond to critiques, and help each other stay on track.
